Un-signing the petition

Update 6/30/06: Peebles has submitted his petitions, so there is no longer any way to take your name off it.

In the 6/28/06 Tribune, Todd Bray pointed out that:

"California Elections Code Section 103 states: any voter who has signed an initiative, referendum or recall petition pursuant to the Constitution or laws of this state shall have his or her signature withdrawn from the petition upon filing a written request therefor with the appropriate county elections official or city elections official prior to the day the petition is filed."

All you need to do is drop a written note into City Hall care of City Clerk Kathy O'Connell saying you want your name removed from the ballot initiative for Peebles 355 units of housing in the Quarry and the City and County will remove your endorsement from the petition.

What a fine idea.
