PSD calls 355 units "too large"

PSD agrees that 355 units is too large, and acknowledges the obvious "environmental constraints" that cause the "major concerns".

For reference, below is the full text of their letter to the Tribune. Contact them at the address they provide and tell them to take a strong stand against 355 houses in the Quarry.

Pacificans for Sustainable Development (PSD) steering committee met last Wednesday night to discuss the Peebles ballot initiative for development in the Quarry. While certain aspects of the conceptual design merit consideration, we have received feedback from many citizens who feel that the current proposal for 355 housing units is too large, considering that the voters rejected Trammell Crow's proposal for 315 housing units by a 2-1 margin. Traffic and environmental constraints are also major concerns. We have given this honest feedback to Mr. Peebles and he has agreed to meet with us in the near future. PSD has therefore decided not to take a formal position on the ballot initiative at this time, in order to have an opportunity to make a good faith effort for further study, community input and discussion of possible alternatives with the developer. If you would like to submit your brief comments, concerns or questions for our upcoming meeting with Mr. Peebles, or to just contact PSD or become a member on our mailing list, please contact us at plan4pacifica@earthlink.net.
