Pyramid scheme

In response to the writer complaining that our city council members haven't come out in favor or against Measure L, I would like to point out that they are correct in their position. Until a real plan is presented, they shouldn't make a decision one way or the other! I stand behind each of the incumbents in this regard.

As for the rest of the citizens of Pacifica, I am surprised that more people are not concerned about the fact that this measure is being pushed by local realtors, builders and mortage brokers, as well as an out of town developer who is spending lots of money (his or whoever's) to ensure he can develop without going through the proper channels. Of course these folks are in support of anything which might bring more money to their plates each day! But are they looking at what is best for the citizens of Pacifica as a whole? I don't think so.

As the number of slick, almost pyramid-scheme like flyers arrive at my door increase (do I want to host a community party in my home? NO!), I am increasingly leery of the real intent of this developer and his supporters. Pacifica means nothing to this guy-- money is what motivates him.

Don't let yourselves get caught up in the cute "charrettes" and homey little parties this guy is hosting, stay focused on the fact that we said no before and we need to say it again!

Do you really think a 350-room hotel will be full to capacity and therefore bring tons of revenue to Pacifica? Do you think that citizens here will be able to afford the housing he's planning to build? Do you honestly believe a huge mixed residential/business complex is the answer to Pacifica's problems? We can't even fill the business space we have now. What makes you think businesses will flock here because of Don Peebles? How stupid does he think we are?

Let Mr. Peebles go through the normal process to get his project through, once a real plan is presented to the City. No reason to cut this guy any slack, since he purchased the property at a steal of a price to start with! Just say NO on Measure L!
