Peebles hires D.C firm to knock on doors in Pacifica
The Peebles-funded Measure L campaign has been hiring paid canvassers from out-of-town to go door-to-door in Pacifica. The canvassers were hired and organized by FieldWorks of Washington, D.C., through their San Francisco office. The Peebles-funded campaign is apparently paying FieldWorks $103,455.39 to knock on doors in Pacifica.
Door-to-door canvassers are reportedly getting paid $10-$15/hr. The organizer is getting $4,000-$6,000 per month, according to a Craigslist posting from last month, excerpted here:

Job Description:
The canvass director/field organizer will be responsible for quickly recruiting and hiring a team of canvassers, training and managing paid canvassers for persuasion and/or GOTV canvass operation, managing data from the canvass, careful tracking of numbers and budgets and other organizing activities as needed. This is NOT a fundraising canvass.
Timeline: Jobs will start within the next week and go through November 7, 2006.
Salary: $4000 to $6000 per month, plus benefits. Salary is dependent on positions, skills and experience. Possible help with housing and or relocation.
