South of the Slide

One of the Peebles/Davies arguments is that the midcoast south of the slide is planning to double their population, and supposedly that means we should be happy to shoot ourselves in the foot by adding 355 houses to the two most congested intersections in Pacifica.

Rush Hour Traffic On Highway 1

"Normal" (no accidents or other tie-ups) rush hour traffic on Higway 1 at 5:30PM, 9/11/06, backed up from the Reina del Mar traffic light all the way to Fairway Park.

Measure L would add 355 housing units right along Highway 1 between Reina del Mar and Fassler, and could back up Highway 1 all the way to Sharp Park or beyond.

Pacifica's "Miami Beach" covered in Bay Guardian

This week's San Francisco Bay Guardian includes an article by G.W. Schulz about Measure L. The very thorough, well-researched report contains too much good information to excerpt here; by all means, read the whole thing.

Traffic Solutions

We need to concentrate on our already available resources. We already have a town center this is Sharp Park, when you look at our city Sharp Park is pretty close to the center. Is this not why our town hall plus one of the two libraries that we have is there as well as our Fog Fest?

Debunking the Highway Widening and "Town Center" claims

Lionel Emde debunks several common misconceptions about the Quarry. The full text of his Letter to the Editor published in the 7/5/2006 Pacifica Tribune is posted below with his express written permission. (The letter was a response to a Guest Column called "Goodbye Pacifica" by Julie Weismann.)

What's So Complicated?

355! Now what's so complicated about that number? Have you noticed that boosters of Mr. Peebles' Quarry Development plan carefully refuse to mention in their Letters to the Editor that there will be 355 housing units in Peeblesville? That's 355 units and all the rush hour traffic they will add to Highway 1 from a whole new neighborhood.
Come on, kids, repeat after me — "355, 355, 355." That's what Pacificans will be voting on — 355 residential units. Forget all those goodies talked about in the charrette charade. They are a mirage.
